There have been many changes in legislation over the last few years that are designed to keep people safe. People who want to volunteer to perform certain roles in theatres and other community spaces now need to show that they have been trained to a particular standard to be able to offer their services. For example, if you want to work in the bar area then as a volunteer you require a Hygiene certificate.
We are able to provide free training to existing and potential volunteers as part of our Theatre Connect programme. We can offer CPD (Continuing Professional Development) that requires you to attend and does not have an exam at the end, or for those who would like to, you can earn a formal Ofqual registered certificate in your chosen areas.
All events and training sessions are FREE to those who register to join Theatre Connect subject to space (and any social distance guidelines) so book early. You must be over 60 to attend.
Theatre Connect is funded by a grant from Arts Council England. For full details of the programme click HERE
Theatre Connect is an exciting programme of events for people over 60 who want to become part of an Arts community. It has been constructed to offer a vibrant, non-judgemental, safe place for adults and older people across Cheltenham to connect with each other and take part in arts related activities and events in our unique theatre setting. Participants will be able to build confidence and friendships, promote positive health and well-being and reduce social isolation and loneliness through the provision of regular social days, movie afternoons and activities with special creative guests. We are also offering direct opportunities to volunteer within the theatre and offer a choice of roles such as ushering, bar team members, fire wardens and first aiders.
