Jacek is a scruffy, heavy-metal-loving cheeky chappie, with a girlfriend and a family, some of whom love him. He is employed in building a truly enormous statue of Jesus, when a horrific accident requires facial surgery, making him all but unrecognisable. The community and family response to this change in appearance is what drives this extraordinary Polish comedy/drama.
