FANTASTIC FILM 1: La Belle et la Bete (PG)

30 March
FANTASTIC FILM 1: La Belle et la Bete (PG)

Directed by Jean Cocteau

Part of Cheltenham Film Society's FANTASTIC FILMS WEEKEND.

The French writer/director Jean Cocteau created La Belle et la Bête (Beauty and the Beast) in 1946, basing it on an 18th century fairy tale. Beautiful Belle, daughter of an impoverished merchant, is imprisoned in the magical castle of a mysterious Beast, who longs to marry her. Starring the great Jean Marais in three roles, it is wonderfully poetic, inventive and passionate, and full of scenes that have resonated down the years. The source material for the popular Disney versions, this is a black and white classic that everyone should know.

Book to see all four FANTASTIC FILMS on Saturday 30 March for just £20. Book to see all eight FANTASTIC FILMS this weekend for just £36!

FANTASTIC FILMS are not part of the standard Playhouse multi-film discount scheme.
