We're opening our doors again this September as part of the national Heritage Open Days scheme, allowing you to take a free guided tour to access parts of the theatre you can't usually see and learn about the history of this fascinating property dating back to 1806. These include the swimming pool beneath the auditorium (now used as a furniture store), the workshop (part of which was once a steam mill and bakery) and the dressing rooms (which were once used to provide medical treatments).
Refreshments will also be available for you to enjoy while looking at a range of old maps, plans, photographs, advertising material and some 1920s film showing the medical baths being used.
We'll be open until 4 pm (last tour at 3.30 pm) and there is no need to book. Please note that due to differing floor levels, some areas are not accessible for those with disabilities, and we're often especially busy between 12 noon and 2 pm. Tours last approximately 40 minutes.
