The Playhouse has been run by volunteers since 1957. But we need more. Would YOU like to come on board our friendly team? We're looking for people who could be interested in helping assist members of the public when they attend a show or assisting visiting theatre companies backstage.
Front of house/public facing roles include things like welcoming patrons, checking their tickets, selling ice creams and running the bar (which is much easier than you think).
Technically, we'd like to teach more people how to rig lights and operate the lighting and sound desks, run the cinema projection kit or stage manage a show.
We're holding a Volunteers Evening where potential new volunteers can meet our Volunteer Manager Liz Maisey, our Theatre Manager Paul Scott, and our existing volunteers, to learn more about the venue, what we do, and what you could do to help. There will be drinks and nibbles and if you've never been into our auditorium, we'll show you that too and tell you something about our history.
We are also going to have regular Coffee Mornings where volunteers can come down to the theatre for a chat over cake which will enable us to give new volunteers throughout the year the chance to drop in and learn more about us while giving a little something back to our volunteers. The first of these will be held on Tuesday 17 April at 11 am.
For more information on becoming one of our volunteers, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
